People facing disadvantage
We want to develop opportunities for people and families who face financial or social barriers to joining a class, so more of our neighbours can find confidence and a sense of belonging through training.

Firebird Martial Arts · Non-profit club
More opportunities. Fewer barriers.
We are a non-profit Choi Kwang Do club in Twickenham, Shepperton and Teddington. Our community ambition is to help more people experience the confidence, connection and personal progress that training can offer.
Talk to us about community classesOur purpose
Firebird Martial Arts is set up as a non-profit club. Our focus is on people: creating a supportive place to learn Choi Kwang Do, build relationships and make steady progress at your own pace.
We want that opportunity to reach further. As part of our non-profit purpose, we are seeking to develop classes for disadvantaged people, disabled people, older adults and others who may face barriers to taking part.
Looking ahead
These specialist community classes are in development, not an announced timetable. We welcome conversations that help us understand local needs and shape what comes next.
We want to develop opportunities for people and families who face financial or social barriers to joining a class, so more of our neighbours can find confidence and a sense of belonging through training.
We are seeking to develop classes shaped around different needs and abilities. Listening to disabled people and their families will help us understand what support, adaptations and access would make participation possible.
We aim to explore classes for older adults, with an emphasis on a comfortable pace, movement, confidence and social connection. We want to understand what would help people feel welcome, whether they are active already or starting something new.
If you are interested in a future class, supporting a family member, or working with a local community group, we would love to hear from you. Tell us about the people you support, the barriers they face and what a welcoming class would look like.
Dates, venues, costs and support arrangements for these classes have not yet been announced. Please speak to us about individual needs before attending so we can discuss what may be suitable.
